In an easy button world — who wins?
While you ponder that existential crisis, I’ll give you my thesis.
Good news: You’re not behind.
Better news: The technology just snapped into place. Literally over the last couple months.
It’s ready for your business:
Make an AI Strategy mandatory.
Learn fundamentals of the agentic loop.
Harness it for a scoped, measurable use case.

Did you just say agentic? wtf is an agent?
Relax! You’ve already used one.
When chatbots are born, they dream of growing up.

But…they don’t dream of growing into bigger chatbots.
They dream of becoming Agents.

The LLM sits at the top → it calls a tool → Tool returns a result → The LLM thinks again → This is the agentic loop
Anytime I say agent… I just mean a grown-up chatbot.
If you used
ChatGPT
or Claude
or Gemini
or Copilot in the last 12 months, that chatbot is agentic because it can use tools.
Now imagine personalizing that to your business to give you an unfair advantage.
I feel behind. I’m not behind?
I predict the tech will hover in this exact spot for a couple years.
We’ll call it the business application phase.
You can harness it right now by learning a few fundamental skills. (or assigning, or outsourcing)
My next prediction will compel you to act now instead of waiting.
→ The technology will bend towards the user.
(It always does)
Example please?
Twitter users invented retweeting on their own.
Millions of people were manually typing RT @ username at the start of a tweet, then copy / paste of that user's verbatim tweet.
They invented the retweet manually.

Twitter watched this happen for years, and then they built a button. One button, and now the repost button lives on every social app!
→ The platform bent towards what the users were already doing on their own.
Right now, people getting value from AI are doing the manual version; they're mapping the workflow, providing the tools, and plumbing it themselves.
The button for all of that is coming. In 3 years, it'll be here.

Great! I’ll just wait for the button.
You sure?
Hmm. If everyone can buy the magic button, who wins?
Are you gonna wait for the button? OF COURSE NOT.
You’re gonna figure out how to bend it to your business to have an unfair advantage.
Read that again
AI = biggest business disruption in a lifetime. Learn the fundamentals!
Speaking of twitter.

Graphic = global AI usage, sorted by subscription tiers.
Now picture yourself in the yellow or red squares, juxtaposed against the rest of the world.
→ If you pay for AI, you’re in the 99th percentile.
→ Build an agent? You’re in the ninety-nine-point-nine.
A permanent skill at the right moment in history is a superpower.

If your dad taught you engines, you can fix anything.
If your dad taught you engines AND you were standing in Detroit in 1955, you did more than assemble cars. You built the middle class.
(kudos to my AI for that line 😉)
That's what this moment is.
If you teach a man to fish, he eats forever.
You learned to read once.
AI fluency is the new literacy. And most businesses can't read yet.
(thank you to Sam, Mark, Nels, and Will for helping me with this article)
If you know someone who would enjoy this content,
Here’s what’s coming next :
I try to translate big concepts in 900 words or less. I should probably do this in video or podcast, but I like to write.
Thursdays: We’ll cover LLM and AI concepts. (Don’t worry. I put the cookies on the lower shelf, where anyone can reach ‘em.) I teach advanced concepts in simple, bite-sized chunks that anyone can understand.
